Jo Everhart Obituary

Mrs. Jo Ann Everhart, 89, a lifelong resident of Davidson County, passed away on January 26, 2023, at Lexington Healthcare and Rehabilitation, surrounded by her two daughters.  She was born in Davidson County on November 26, 1933, to the late Roy Samuel Pierce and Ola Mae Lambeth Pierce. Jo Ann was a member of Fair Grove United Methodist Church and formerly of First Baptist Church of Thomasville, where she was a member of the Pearl Westmoreland Women’s Circle. She was also a member of the Thomasville Pilot Club and the Ladies’ Auxiliary of the Fair Grove Lions Club, where she enjoyed being a member of the chorus in the annual Fair Grove Follies.

Jo Ann graduated from Fair Grove High School in 1952 and she remained close friends with her classmates throughout the years. She enjoyed working part-time for High Point Auto Auction, Mendenhall Auto Auction and at the High Point Furniture Market for Custom Craft, Inc. These jobs gave her the opportunity to meet many people and develop lifelong friendships with her co-workers. Anyone who had the pleasure of meeting Jo Ann was instantly drawn to her magnetic personality and sweet spirit.

She loved all genres of music and especially loved playing her baby grand piano. She enjoyed going to the coast and taking trips with her friends. However, her family was always her top priority. Her door was always open to everyone, and the love and comfort she gave was never forgotten by those who had the pleasure to have known her.

On January 28, 1951, she married Clifton Harrison Everhart. Along with her parents, Cliff preceded her in death on July 14, 2013.

Surviving are her daughters, Denise Everhart Barnes, Cindy Everhart Collins and husband, Ben, all of Thomasville. She is also survived by two grandsons, Jeremy Barnes and wife, Jennifer, of St. Petersburg, Florida, Luke Barnes of Charleston, South Carolina, and two great-grandchildren, Parker Barnes and Bailey Barnes, also of St. Petersburg. She also leaves behind many beloved extended relatives and friends.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, February 1, 2023, at 1:00 at Fair Grove United Methodist Church, with Jane Baity and Stephen Blair officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11:30-1:00 in the Family Life Center prior to the service.

The family would like to recognize Ms. Julie Mendenhall for the love, support and compassion she gave to Jo Ann during this difficult time.
