Joan Carol (Hinkle) Robertson

Joan Carol Hinkle Robertson, 81, of Thomasville passed away Friday morning, June 6, 2025.

Joan was born January 12, 1944 to the late Sollie Franklin Hinkle and Jessie Mae Black Hinkle in Virginia. She attended East Carolina University where she achieved her bachelors in business and later her Master’s from NC A&T University. She worked in the local area for 31 years as an educator serving in Davidson County, Guilford County, and Durham Public School Systems. She inspired many students while teaching at Silver Valley Elementary in Lexington, Ledford Senior High in Thomasville, Lincoln Middle in Greensboro, Bethesda Elementary in Durham, and Southeast Middle in Greensboro, from which she retired in 2004. Joan was a member of Fair Grove Church in Thomasville. In recent years, she attended Greenwood Baptist Church in Thomasville with her friends Mike and Teresa Eddinger.

In addition to her parents, Joan was preceded in death by a sister, Frances Gardner; a half-brother, Frank Hinkle.

Surviving are her two children, Julie Dee Robertson Brittain and husband Charles, Derek Lee Robertson and wife Jackie, all of Tennessee; a granddaughter, Natalie Grace Robertson; extended family and friends.

A funeral service will be held Saturday, June 21, 2025 at 11:00 AM at the J.C. Green and Sons Chapel in Thomasville with Pastor Mitchel Hayworth officiating. Burial will follow at Fair Grove Church Cemetery. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
