Joe Elkins

Steven “Joe” Joseph Elkins, 61, of Lexington passed away Friday, November 28, 2025 at Novant Health Thomasville Medical Center. Joe was born February 28, 1964 in Radford County, Virginia to Curtis Edward Elkins and Dorothy Franklin Elkins. Joe was a member of Mt. Zion Wesleyan Church. He worked many years as a truck driver for Trinity Transport. Joe enjoyed spending time with family and making memories on beach trips with them. He was a faithful husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He was preceded in death by his father, Curtis Edward Elkins; and one brother, Terry Elkins.

On July 12, 1986, he married Constance “Connie” Varner Elkins who survives of the home. Also surviving are, his two daughters, Erica McDowell and husband Davin and Jamie Cook and husband Adam, all of Lexington; his mother, Dorothy “Dot” Franklin Elkins; one sister, Leigh Ann Davidson and husband Steve of Randleman; three granddaughters, Lilly York, Bella Cook, and Skylar Cook, all of Lexington; sister-in-law, Stephanie Elkins of Hinton, West Virginia. He also leaves behind several nieces and nephews.

Private family services will be held. In lieu of flowers the family request that memorials be sent to the American Kidney Foundation at 11921 Rockville Pike, Suite 300, Rockville, MD 20852 or Hospice of Davidson County at 200 Hospice Way, Lexington, NC 27292.
