Mr. Joe Lee Mottesheard, 77, a resident of Lexington, passed away on Thursday, July 9, 2020 at his home. He was born on January 6, 1943 in Ivanhoe, Virginia to the late Charles Mottesheard and Lena Walls Mottesheard. Joe served in the United States Army for several years where he became a mechanic. He was a mechanic most of his life and retired from Costco. Joe had a love for woodworking, fishing, camping, travelling, and spending time with his family. He was a loving and kind husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and neighbor. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his three siblings, Judy Mottesheard, Charles “Buster” Mottesheard, and Russel “Buckshot” Walls.
Surviving are his loving wife of 20 years, Mary Rippey Mottesheard of the home; two sons, Richard Evans and Billy Joe Evans; two daughters, Tammy Rippey Burnette and Teresa Beckerdite; five grandchildren; nine adopted grandchildren; several adopted great-grandchildren; many extended family members; and dear friend, Johnny Trivette.
Due to Covid-19, there will be no formal services at this time for Mr. Mottesheard. A private family service will be held in Ivanhoe, Virginia at a later date. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.jcgreenandsons.com
