John Henry Matthews, Jr.

John Henry Matthews, Jr., 60, of Thomasville passed away Saturday, June 21, 2025 at High Point Medical Center.

John was born September 3, 1964 to the late John Henry Matthews, Sr. and Beulah Francis Vestal Matthews in Guilford County. He was a contractor for many years and attended Midway School Road Baptist Church in Thomasville. John enjoyed playing video games, golfing with his father and brother, and being involved with bible studies.

Left to cherish his memory are his two beloved daughters, Kimberly Watkins and husband Gregory of Ridgeway, VA, April Eller of Thomasville; a grandson, Chase Eller; three siblings, Larry Matthews of High Point, Caroyln Slate of Tulsa, OK, Linda Hayworth and husband Leon of High Point; numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held Wednesday, June 25, 2025 at 11:00 AM at the J.C. Green and Sons Chapel in Thomasville with Pastor Robert Walker officiating. The family will greet friends one hour prior starting at 10:00 AM. A private burial will be held at Matthews-Williams Family Cemetery in East Bend at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Midway School Road Baptist Church, 6735 Midway School Road, Thomasville, NC 27360.
