John Nance Jr. Obituary

John Henry Nance, Jr. passed away August 2, 2020 at Piedmont Crossing surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Nance was born January 2, 1932 in Randolph County to John and Mary Wall Nance. He called Thomasville home most all his life.

On June 27, 1959 he married Mary Ann Childers, who preceded him in death. Also preceding him are grandson Bryce Nance, brothers Raymond, Raeford, Charlie and Hall Nance.

Jr, as many new him, always had a smile on his face. He was known to go by the farmers market and give away his "finds" to family and friends when he visited.

John retired from Akzo-Nobel in 1997. He graduated from Fair Grove High School. Served in the Army and later attended Ashmore Business School. He was a loyal member of Bethel United Methodist Church. He especially loved the companionship from the Wednesday night suppers and SASSY.

Granddaddy was a generous, loving and doting father, grandfather and great grandfather. His love of the ocean was evident throughout his life. Many fishing trips to Hatteras and Ocracoke with his brothers and friends and grandson Bryan. Later in life Myrtle Beach was his second home, sharing his condos with family and friends. Oceanfront is where he wanted to be.

Surviving is his daughter Kathy Nance Bodenheimer (Tony) of Thomasville, son Ken Nance of High Point. Grandchildren Bryan Bodenheimer (Ashley) of Thomasville, Jordan Smith (Brian) of High Point. Three great grandchildren, Landon Smith, Tyler Bodenheimer and Samantha Bodenheimer. Special nephew Tom Nance. Many nieces and nephews.
