Joseph Drayton

Mr. Joseph Drayton, 67, passed away on February 12, 2026 at the High Point Hospice House. He was born on May 26, 1958 to the late Milton Drayton, Sr. and Alma Louise Keels Drayton. Affectionately known as POGO and Ice Man. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Travis and Allen; a sister, Louise; a niece, Takeisha; and a grandson, Mykiah.

He attended public schools in Thomasville, NC and graduated with the class of 1976. Joe was a great basketball standout athlete at TSHS. He was 4th in scoring in the South Piedmont Conference Basketball and an All-Conference player.  

He also served in the United States Marine Corps from 1977 to 1980.

Joseph was a dedicated employe with Royal Limousine and business owner of POGO LLC.

He leaves to cherish his beautiful life through his children, Quintsey Drayton of Thomasville, NC; Tiffinee Drayton of High Point, NC; and Glenn Drayton of Greensboro, NC; two brothers, Milton Drayton, Jr and Timothy Drayton; grandchildren, Asha, Christian, Nadiya, and Yalina; special coach/player/friend, Coach Moye; and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 21, 2026 at 2:00 PM at the JC Green & Sons Chapel, 122 W. Main Street Thomasville, NC 27360 with Mark Douglas officiating. The family will speak to friends and family following the service. Mr. Drayton’s ashes will be laid to rest at the Salisbury National Cemetery.
