Mr. Joseph Franklin Hiatt, 95, a lifelong resident of Thomasville, passed away Tuesday afternoon, March 3, 2026 at Hospice Home of High Point. Joe was born July 15, 1930, in Davidson County, to the late Ulysses Hiatt and Elizabeth Clemmons Hiatt. He was a proud graduate of High Point College and dutifully served his country in the United States Air Force. Upon returning to civilian life, Joe was a highly productive salesman for Life of Virginia Insurance Company for 40 years. Joe was a member of Trinity United Methodist, now known as New Beginnings United Methodist in Thomasville. He was also a member of the Thomasville Masonic Lodge # 214 and Shriners International. Joe was an avid lover of antique automobiles, enjoyed camping and listening to Blue Grass Music.
In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by his wife, Jean Harriett Crotts Hiatt in August 2018; and his five brothers, Lawrence Hiatt, Ralph Hiatt, Marion Hiatt, Johnny Hiatt and Leon Hiatt.
Surviving is his son, Mark Hiatt of Thomasville; and his granddaughter, Morgan Elizabeth Hiatt of Kennesaw, GA. Joe will be missed by everyone who knew him.
A funeral service to honor Joe’s life will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, March 11, 2026 at J.C. Green and Sons Funeral Home Chapel in Thomasville, with Rev. Hank Thompson officiating. The family will greet friends beginning at 1:00 PM prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow the service at Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Shriners Hospital for Children 950 W. Faris Road, Greenville, NC 29605. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.jcgreenandsons.com.
