Mrs. Joyce Ann Beck Floyd, 79, a resident of Thomasville and St. Cloud, FL, passed away on Sunday, October 10, 2021 at the Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem. She was born on April 8, 1942 in Davidson County to the late Clarence Weldon Beck and Pauline Byerly Beck. Joyce was always considered a homemaker nonetheless; she worked many years for Western Electric and a nursery farm in Florida. She was a member of Mt. Zion Wesleyan Church and she enjoyed baking, cooking, gardening, and working with flowers. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother to her family and she’ll be dearly missed. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her sister, Charlotte Edwards.
Surviving are her husband of 61 years, Larry James Floyd of the home; two sons, James Floyd and wife Alison of Stokesdale, and Julius Floyd and wife Shaylyn of Lexington; three daughters, Paula Driscoll and husband Michael of Thomasville, Heidi Myers of Lexington, and Deedi Hemric and husband Lee of Thomasville; one brother, Clarence Leo Beck and wife Barbara of Lexington; nine grandchildren, Danielle, Matthew, Ashley, Kathy, Dalton, Mckensie, Ashleigh, Jessica, and Erin; and four great-grandchildren, Emma, Garrett, Kaesen, and Alakai.
A funeral service will be held at Mt. Zion Wesleyan Church in Thomasville on Tuesday, October 19, 2021 at 2:00 PM with Rev. Dr. E. Keith Carroll and Rev. Wilson Harris officiating. Mrs. Floyd will lie-in-state prior to the service inside the church sanctuary from 12:00 to 1:45 PM for anyone to come pay their respects.
