Joyce Ann Yates Stilley

Mrs. Joyce Ann Yates Stilley, 84, of Thomasville, passed away on Wednesday, June 4, 2025 at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home in Winston-Salem.  She was born on March 11, 1941 in Davidson County, Thomasville, NC to Alfred Webster Yates and Ida Mae Carroll Yates.  She was a homemaker and attended Arrington Heights Freewill Baptist Church for over 20 years and most recently attended Southside Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Delma Stilley, Sr. on September 25, 2006, whom she married on April 4, 1959; her infant brother, Alfred Webster Yates, Jr.; and her sisters, Doris Jean Yates, Geraldine Hirsch, and Peggy Overby.

Surviving are her daughters, Cindy Shelton and husband Terry of Thomasville, Susanne Stilley of Ocean Isle Beach, NC, Amy Murphy and husband Woody of Kure Beach, NC, and Angie Owings and husband Mike of Thomasville; her two sons, Jimmy Stilley and John Stilley and wife Tonya, all of Thomasville; her brother, Bobby Yates and wife Nancy of High Point; 13 grandchildren, Matthew Shelton and wife Tabitha, Jessica Whisenhunt and husband Scott, Mark Cooper and wife Lisa, Kim Key and husband Nathan, Stephen Cooper and wife Renee, Larry Murphy and wife Stephanie, Kristen Forrest and husband Nick, Carrie Henegar and husband Josh, Coley Garner and wife Hayley, Jennifer Fulk and husband Chaz, Austin Stilley and wife Jenny, Madison Stilley and fiancé, Kenan Hillyard, and Ryleigh Stilley; 6 step grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, June 9, 2025 at 2:00 PM at Southside Baptist Church with Rev. Doug McGee and Rev. Jason Craver officiating.  Interment will follow in Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery.  The family will receive friends on Monday at the church one hour prior to the service from 12:45 PM – 1:45 PM.  Memorials may be directed to Trellis Supportive Care, 101 Hospice Ln.
