Juanita Black Welborn Obituary

Juanita Black Welborn, 91, of Thomasville passed away Friday, December 26, 2025 at Novant Health Thomasville Medical Center. Juanita was born September 3, 1934 in Davidson County to the late Charlie Lee Black and Maude Snider Black. She was a faithful member of Unity United Methodist Church in her earlier years and later moved her membership to Fair Grove Church. She worked many years in the hosiery and textile industry. She enjoyed knitting, volunteering, and spreading joy wherever she went. She was a faithful volunteer and loved to serve others; especially with Meals on Wheels and Cooperative Community Ministry. Her greatest joy in life was the time she spent with her beloved family and friends. Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Odell Welborn, Jr.; daughter, Carol Larae Welborn; son, Carl “Carlie” Welborn; one sister, Helen Walker; four brothers, Raeford Black, Richard Black, Hollis Black, and Harold Black; an infant sister, Jeanetta Ann Black; and granddaughter, Jennifer Semones.

Surviving are her children, Barbara Ramsey (Jim) of Greensboro, Pam Daniels (Jimmy) of Blounts Creek, Terri Anderson (Gene) of Thomasville; two sisters, Margaret Jones and Mary Frances Shuler; six grandchildren, Michael Welborn, Amber Strider, Joseph Strider, Kevin Daniels, Sheridan Ramsey, and Carolina Ramsey; eight great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held Wednesday, December 31, 2025 at 10:00 AM at Fair Grove Church with Rev. Mark Helms officiating. Interment will follow at Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will greet friends Tuesday evening from 6:00 PM-8:00 PM at J.C. Green and Sons Funeral Home in Thomasville. In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorials be sent to Fair Grove Family Resources, 159 Myrtle Drive Thomasville, NC 27360, Cooperative Community Ministry or Fair Grove Church.
