Julia Coyle Jollay Obituary

Julia Coyle Jollay, 71, of Lexington, North Carolina, passed away on April 14, 2025, at her home.

Julia was born on July 18, 1953, to Everette “Mike” and Mary Coyle in Dillon, South Carolina. She grew up in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, and graduated from Parkland High School in 1971. After graduation, she earned a nursing diploma from Forsyth Technical Institute (now Forsyth Technical Community College) in 1972. She spent her entire 43-year nursing career caring for the residents of Davidson County as a licensed practical nurse at Novant Health Thomasville Medical Center, working in the emergency department, operating room, pediatrics, and intensive care unit, and was named one of the “Remarkable 45” for her excellence in care. She retired from nursing in 2015.

After retirement, she enjoyed spending time with her family and granddogs, watching college basketball, cheering on the Atlanta Braves, completing a good cross-stitch, and reading. Becoming a grandmother was her greatest joy, and she cherished every moment spent with her granddaughter.

Julia is survived by her son, Michael Jollay of Lexington; daughter, Laura Donahue and her husband Matthew of Clemmons; granddaughter, Madison Donahue; sister, Myra LeBar of Cocoa, Florida; niece, Melissa Morales and her husband Mike of Palm Bay, Florida; nephew, Brian Hutcheson and his wife Dawn of Orlando, Florida; and cherished friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Courtney Jollay.

The family will receive friends on Friday, April 25, 2025 from 6-8 pm at J.C. Green and Sons Funeral Home in Thomasville, North Carolina. A memorial service will be held in the chapel at J.C. Green and Sons Funeral Home on Saturday, April 26, 2025 at 11:00 am with Rev. Steve Manley officiating, followed by a private burial at Holly Hill Memorial Cemetery in Thomasville.
