June McIntyre Hicks

On Friday October 17, 2025. June McIntyre Hicks and her son Stephen Eric Hicks found peace in the loving arms of our savior.  June was born on October 7, 1949 to the late Russell and Mildred McIntyre.  Eric was born on September 12, 1980 and welcomed with open arms by June and Stephen Curtis Hicks.  In addition to June’s parents, she is preceded in death by Granny Liss, a sister Starr McIntyre Lawson and husband William Ray Lawson (Nick), a sister Emma Jo McIntyre Disher.  Eric was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Mildred and Russell McIntyre, his paternal grandparents Biddy and Curtis Hicks. Also preceding Eric is his Granny Liss, Aunt Starr and Uncle Nick Lawson, a maternal aunt Jo Disher.  A paternal aunt Martha Hicks.

June leaves behind her husband of 56 years Stephen Curtis Hicks.  There were childhood sweethearts and loved each other deeply.  A sister Jackie Adams (Greg), a niece Hailey Tedrow (Michael) and a great nephew Reeve.  Also, June leaves a beloved Niece Tisha Russ (Rod) and 2 amazing grand nieces, Logan and Alyssa Russ.  A nephew Matthew Disher (Amanda) and great niece Carly Jo Disher.  Special cousins Brenda Evans and Mickie Doss. 

Eric leaves his father Stephen Curtis Hicks, in addition to his maternal family he leaves a paternal Uncle Stan Hicks and cousins Shannon Hicks (Michelle) and their daughter Lane. Also, a cousin Marcy Dennis (Chad) and their son, Conan.

June loved and nurtured her family always wanting to give them her best.  In recent years her health limited her abilities to do things but she did all she could.  Her greatest love in addition to her husband Steve was her son Eric.  Always giving her absolute all to take care of Eric and give him a happy and complete life. 

Eric was a big guy with a big heart. While his life presented with many challenges, he always had hope.  He loved the lord and was very knowledgeable of His word.  Even as a small child he knew things about all cars and could tell you all about them. His mind was full of facts that he never forgot.  Eric often could be found in Old Salem, a book store, or an old cemetery.  He was always interested in old places and things.

 A memorial service and gathering of friends will start at 1:00 PM on Friday, October 24, 2025 at Faith Church, 1077 Gumtree Road, Winston-Salem, NC with Pastor Michael Gates officiating the service at 2:30 PM.  A private graveside will be held next week.

Our family cannot measure how much they will be missed.  We find comfort knowing they were saved and sharing heaven with their family.
