Kathy Odessa Ann (Murray) McDowell

Kathy Odessa Ann Murray McDowell, 57, a resident of Thomasville, passed away Saturday evening, April 26, 2025, at her home. She was born in Guilford County, on May 27, 1967, to Katherine Murray and Jimmy Murray.   Kathy was of the Baptist faith and she worked for many years as a secretary for Traffic Control Devices.  She loved flowers, plants and working in the garden.  Kathy really enjoyed going to the beach and spending time with her family.  She was a devoted and loving mother, daughter, grandmother, sister and friend to many and will be dearly missed. 

Kathy is preceded in death by her son, Ronald “Ronnie’ Gary McDowell, Jr.

In addition to her mother and father, Kathy is survived by two sons, Jacob McDowell and Justin McDowell; two sisters, Karen Laney and husband Billy, Sandra Nunley; two brothers, David Murray and wife Ashley, Jimmy Murray and wife, Sandra; seven grandchildren, Jacob, Jr, Trey, Riley, Jayden, Destiney, Tara, Layla; three great-grandchildren; the father of her children, Ronald McDowell; many other extended family members. 

A funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM, Saturday, May 10, 2025, at the JC Green and Sons Funeral Home Chapel in Thomasville, with Rev. Keith Letterman officiating.  Burial will follow at Faith Baptist Church 2984 Rob Cruthis Road, High Point, NC.  The family will greet friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Friday evening, May 9, 2025 at the funeral home.  Online condolences may be sent to the family at  www.jcgreenandsons.com.
