Kenneth Dee Draughn

Mr. Kenneth Dee Draughn, 85, of Thomasville, passed away on Monday, September 8, 2025 at the Hospice Home at High Point.  He was born on July 8, 1940 in Surry County, Dobson, NC to Simon Peter Draughn and Grace Geneva Hardy Draughn.  He retired from Thayer Coggin, Inc. in High Point after 54 years of service and was a NC Army National Guardsman.  He was a member of Zion Church, where he was a past consistory member, Sunday School Class President, and Chief Coffee Maker and Joke Teller.  He was a member of the Carolina Antique Power Association and the Luther Mountain Hunt Club.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Jeraldine “Jerri” Edwards.

On December 24, 1961, he married Brenda Johnson, who survives of the home; also surviving are his daughters, Janet Smith and husband Jerry of Wallburg and Carol Sherrill and husband Ben of Thomasville; his son, Dale Draughn and wife Tiffany of Lexington; brothers, Roger Draughn and Russell Draughn and wife Betty; his two grandsons, Trent Sherrill and Connor Sherrill; and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, September 11, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Zion Church with Pastor Josh Sands officiating.  Interment will follow in the church cemetery.  Mr. Draughn will remain at the J.C. Green & Sons Funeral Home in Thomasville until taken to the church 30 minutes prior to the service.  The family will be at the funeral home on Wednesday, September 10, 2025 for visitation from 6:30 PM – 8:00 PM.  Memorials may be directed to Hospice of the Piedmont, 1801 Westchester Dr. High Point, NC 27262.  Online condolences may be sent to www.jcgreenandsons.com.
