Kenny Byrd Obituary

Kenny Ray Byrd, 59, a resident of Thomasville, passed away Thursday evening at his home, surrounded by his family.  Kenny was born on December 12, 1964, to the late Harold Byrd and Eva Lee Rook Byrd.  Along with his parents, Kenny is preceded in death by his sister, Linda Lowder; his brothers-in-law, Robert “Lynn” Lowder, and Gary Pollock; his granddaughter, Hailey Blayke Simmons. 

Kenny was a truck driver and saw most of the country along his routes. He loved to fish, go to flea markets and “wheel and deal”.  Kenny was a jokester and was always the “Life of the party!”  He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather, who loved to spend time with his family. 

Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 33 years, Buffi Buffington Byrd of the home; his son, James Rachal of Denton; three daughters, Kristie Hewett and husband Steven of Trinity, Stacie Simmons and husband, Nick of Thomasville, Kyndrah Byrd of Thomasville; three brothers, Rock Byrd and wife Sheryl of Trinity, Jerry Byrd of Thomasville, Mark Byrd and wife Lisa of Thomasville; three sisters, Mary Pollock of Thomasville, Brenda Anwar of Thomasville, Emily Holt of High Point; nine grandchildren, Alexi Rachal, Kayden Rachal, Carter Younts, Madelyn Byrd, Jazzmyn Donovan, Chloe Hewett, Aubrie Simmons, Evelyn Hewett, Cash Simmons, and a grandchild on the way. 

A funeral service will be held at 2:00PM on Thursday, February 8, 2024 at J.C. Green and Sons Chapel in Thomasville, with Rev. Gary Blakely, officiating.  The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the funeral home.  Burial will follow the service in Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery.   In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in Kenny’s memory  to Davidson County Cancer Services, 25 W. 6th Avenue, Lexington, NC 27292.  Online condolences may be left at
