Lanny William Hedgecock

Mr. Lanny William Hedgecock, age 85, passed away on Saturday, March 29, 2025, while at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home.  He was born on February 4, 1940, in Guilford County to the late Willie Paul and Jewel Willard Hedgecock.  Lanny was a faithful member of Shady Grove Global Methodist Church.  He was in the first graduation class of Ledford High School and retired from R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company.  Lanny served with the N.C. National Guard and served more than 20 years on the board of the Davidson County Farm Bureau.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Rebecca Smith “Becky” Hedgecock.

He is survived by his two daughters, Lana Hedgecock and Lesha Sabio (Hernan) both of Winston-Salem; brother, John Hedgecock (Vickie) of Kernersville; three grandchildren, Lexa Hedgecock, Elena Sabio, and Dominic Sabio; niece, Cherie Bowman; and nephew, Scott Hedgecock.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM on Thursday, April 3, 2025, at Shady Grove Global Methodist Church with Pastor, Dr. Rev. Tom Mabry officiating.  Interment will follow the service in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at J.C. Green and Sons Funeral Home, 10301 N. NC Hwy 109, Winston-Salem.
