Larry Gardner Obituary

Mr. Larry Dean Gardner, 66, was called home to be with The Lord on Saturday, January 9, 2021 at his home. He was born on September 17, 1954 in Spruce Pine, NC to the late Lockie Gardner Henson. Larry was a truck driver and genuinely loved driving his truck. He never met a stranger and loved his friends and family dearly. When he was able, he attended Deepwater Baptist Church. He is preceded in death by his mother, Lockie Gardner Henson; one son, Jeffery “Bo” Gardner; and one sister, Shirley Soles.

Surviving are his wife of almost 49 years, Christine Soles Gardner of the home; one daughter, Angela “Babe” Spears and husband Tracy of Lexington; three sons, Chris “Spooky” Gardner and wife Donna of Denton, Scotty “Root” Gardner of Lexington, and John “Johnboy” Gardner of Lexington; twelve grandchildren, Kendall “DinkDink” Comer and husband Aaron, Jona “Pipsqueak” Gardner, Jacob “Rooster” Gardner, Lilly “Lillybug” Taylor, Dalton “Baby D” Gardner, Tripp “Baby T” Spears, Jaxson “Baby J” Taylor, Bentley Gallimore, Colt Seawell, Nolan Seawell, Tyler Spears, and Brent Spears; four great-grandchildren, Cope “Baby C” Comer, Ellie “Ellie Girl” Comer, Wyatt Seawell, and Weston Seawell; three sisters, Sue “Nina Sue” Abernathy of Thomasville, Jean Overby and husband Wayne of Lexington, and Mary Ellen “Sissy” Equils and husband Les of Lexington.  

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, January 13, 2021 at 11:00 AM at the JC Green & Sons Chapel in Thomasville with Preacher Eddie Hill officiating. The family will receive friends Tuesday night from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home. Burial will follow the service at Community Baptist Church in Lexington.
