Mr. Larry Roscoe Kearns, 78, of Winston-Salem passed away peacefully on Thursday morning, July 23, 2020 at Hinkle House Hospice Home after an extended illness. He was born in Davidson County on August 24, 1941 a son of the late Ernest Bowers Kearns and Mary Katherine Everhart Kearns. Larry was a faithful member of Faith Church for 40 years, attending regularly as health allowed. He was a master mechanic and welder serving 10 years with Salem Steel following with 40 years at Owens Brockway. Larry was a selfless man who worked diligently throughout his life helping others. He served as a devoted caregiver to his wife Shirley and loving father to his sons, Scott and Chad. Known as a talkative and engaged person with everyone he met and well respected by his peers. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Shirley Faye Berrier Kearns; sister, Martha Kearns; and brother Barry Kearns.
Larry is survived by two sons, Scott Kearns of New York, N.Y., and Chad Kearns of Winston-Salem; and five brothers, Dean, Terry, Joe, Joel, and Bunk Kearns.
Due to the Covid 19 virus there will not be a formal service at this time but a memorial gathering will be scheduled at a later date. For those wishing to pay their respects Larry will lie in repose on Sunday, July 26, 2020 from 1:00 PM until 4:00 PM at the funeral home, 10301 N. NC Hwy 109, Winston-Salem.
