Mr. Larry Wayne Mahan Jr, 50, a resident of Thomasville, passed away on Tuesday, April 9, 2024 at his home after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born on September 29, 1973 in High Point to his mother, Donna Faye Manley Smith. Known as the appliance man, Larry was owner and operator of Mahan Appliance in Thomasville for over 20 years. He got started in the industry when he was only twelve years old, helping his grandfather at Harry’s Fixit Shop. He was a longtime member of Life Church Fellowship in Thomasville. In his spare time, Larry enjoyed spending time with his family taking family trips, camping, boating, riding his motorcycle, and racecar driving down at Caraway Speedway. Known as PawPaw, he loved giving his precious granddaughter piggyback rides. He will always be deeply loved and greatly missed by his loving family. Larry is preceded in death by his mother, Donna Faye Manley Smith, his PawPaw and Nannie, Harry and Ann Smith; and two siblings, Donna Diane Mahan and Michael D. Mahan.

Surviving is his loving wife of 32 years, Sharon Varner Mahan of the home; two daughters, Lindsey Mahan of Thomasville, and Heidi Mahan and significant other, Jarrell of Thomasville; special granddaughter, Lainey Webb; two brothers, Harold Mahan and Tracy Mahan and wife Melissa, both of Thomasville; and extended special family of in-laws, nieces, nephews, friends, and special uncle, Norman Mahan.  

A memorial service to celebrate Larry’s life will be held on Saturday, April 13, 2024 at 5:00 PM at the JC Green & Sons Chapel in Thomasville with Bishop Steve Rich and Pastor Garland Ruth officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 4:00 to 5:00 PM at the funeral home. The family would like to send a special thank you to Hayworth Cancer Center for their loving care during this difficult time.
