Mr. Lester "Baxter" Hunt, 82, of Lexington, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, July 24, 2026, at Alderwood Hospice in Lexington. Baxter was born on April 4, 1944, in Chatham County, North Carolina, to the late Lester Hunt and Nannie Mae Newton Hunt. He was a faithful member of Rich Fork Church for many years. Baxter loved the Lord and lived his life sharing the Gospel. He was a dedicated Gideon who found great joy in witnessing and distributing Bibles. In his earlier years, Baxter worked for North State Telephone and Lexington Phone. Later, he became a self-employed plumber. He enjoyed spending time outdoors, whether fishing or gardening. He also proudly served for many years in the National Guard. Baxter will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Maxie Kennedy, and his nephew, Maxie Kennedy, Jr.

Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 42 years, Martha Jane Dick Hunt of the home; his sister, Barbara Ann Kennedy; his niece, Becky Slawter and husband, Jody; his great-niece, Tera Parrish and husband, Colton; his great-great-niece, Isabella Rose Parrish; and many beloved cousins and dear friends.

A Memorial Service will be announced in the days to come.
