Lettie Frances (Young) Cook

Mrs. Lettie Frances Young Cook, 85, a resident of Oakmont Circle Archdale, NC formerly of Lambeth Rd. Thomasville, passed away Friday, May 1, 2020 in High Point Regional Medical Center. She was born June 30, 1934 in Robeson County, NC. She was the daughter of the late Charles Jesse Young and Roxie Sommersett Young. Frances was a graduate of Maxton High School and Watts Nursing School in Durham, NC. She served in the U S Air Force Nurse Reserves. As a registered nurse some of the hospitals she served were M.D. Anderson Hospital in Houston, Texas and Forsyth Medical Center in Winston Salem, NC. She was a member of Memorial United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women. Frances also volunteered as a church secretary. Her love of the outdoors and animals extended into being an avid gardener and growing vegetables and flowers. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by a brother, J. C. Young. Surviving is one daughter, Jessica Phelps and husband Tom of High Point; two sisters, Betty Rose Wright and husband Ronnie of Raleigh, and Mary Elizabeth Rodriguez of Myrtle Beach; two brothers, Roy Young of Calabash, and Charles Young of Maxton, NC; twin grandchildren, Madison Phelps and Riley Phelps of High Point, NC. Mrs. Cook will be cremated and there will be a memorial service at a later date.
