Lilia Ibarra-Chaires

Mrs. Lilia Ibarra Chaires, 50, a resident of Thomasville, passed away on Tuesday, August 26, 2025 at her home. She was born on September 20, 1974 in Mexico City to her parents, Juana Chaires Herrera and Crispin Ibarra Garcia. Lilia immigrated from Mexico to Thomasville over 20 years ago. Over the next several years she would touch countless people in her community through her love for Zumba. She was the first Zumba instructor among the Hispanic community in Thomasville. Her energy and smile would light up any room she walked into. She helped with numerous Zumbatons to help raise money for people in need. One of her biggest accomplishments in life was being a dedicated mother to her daughter and a faithful friend. Only Cancer could stop her or slow her down.

Surviving is her husband, Gabriel Ibarra of the home; her daughter, Monica Pesqueira; her father, Crispin Ibarra Garcia of Mexico City; two brothers, Jose Ibarra of Thomasville and Alejandro Ibarra of Mexico City; and numerous friends and extended family members. Lilia is preceded in death by her mother, Juana Chaires Herrera.  

A visitation will be held on Friday, August 29, 2025 from 4:00 PM till 8:00 PM at the JC Green & Sons Funeral Home in Thomasville. A memorial funeral mass will be held at Our Lady of the Highways Catholic Church in Thomasville at a later time.
