Lillie Prickett Obituary

Lillie Mae Gaymon Prickett, 91, a resident of Thomasville, passed away on Monday evening, January 26, 2026, at her home, surrounded by her family.  She was born on October 11, 1934, in Clarendon County, South Carolina, to her parents, the late James William Gaymon and Mattie Ellison Gaymon.  Lillie Mae was a faithful member of Friendship Baptist Church in Thomasville and was known as “grandma” to the congregation.  She loved to drive around town and was always a help to other folks in need.  Lillie Mae always tried to keep her family in line and enjoyed spending time with them.  She was a loyal worker for Carolina Underwear for many years and later retired from Piedmont Crossing. Lillie Mae was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and sister and she will be dearly missed by everyone who knew her.

In addition to her parents, Lillie Mae is preceded in death by her loving husband, Hallis Prickett, who passed in 1985; a son, Hallis “Pig” Prickett, Jr.; a daughter, Arlene Leak; four brothers, Edward “PC” Gaymon, Levi Gaymon, Hampton Gaymon, Gillis Gaymon; and two sisters, Elizabeth Green and Mary Brown.    

Surviving is her son, James Gaymon and wife Frances; two daughters, Shirley Mathis, Verona Cannon and husband Willie; a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; nieces, nephews and other extended family members. 

**UPDATED TIMES**  A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, February 5, 2026, at J.C. Green and Sons Funeral Home Chapel in Thomasville, with Pastor Shannon Jessup and Pastor Durant Cottingham officiating. Burial will follow the service at Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery (weather permitting).  The family will greet friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Thursday evening at the funeral home and at other times at James & Frances Gaymon’s home at 7047 Kennedy Road in Trinity.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Davidson County Hospice 200 Hospice Way, Lexington, NC 27292.
