Lois Elizabeth Carpenter Styles, 93, of Thomasville, passed away on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, at Hospice Home at High Point, surrounded by her loving family. Lois was born on May 30, 1933, in Avery County, North Carolina, to the late Carl Carpenter and Maude Shook Carpenter. She worked for many years as a machine operator. Lois enjoyed listening to country music, working with ceramics, going to yard sales and caring for her family. She took great pride in making sure her loved ones were well fed and that everything was cared for, including keeping their clothes neatly ironed. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Joe Styles; two sons, Milton Styles and Mike Styles; great-grandchild, Dustin Styles; and six siblings; daughter-in-law, Judy Styles.
Those left to cherish her memory include her son, Charles Ray “Bud” Styles; daughter, Kathy Buchanan (Tommy); brother, Lester Carpenter; sister, Margaret Carpenter; eight grandchildren, Sylvia Ingram, Charles “Weasel” Styles, Shawn “Butterball” Styles, Barbara Styles, Brandon Styles, Michael “Tater” Styles, Kristy Styles, and Tasha Styles; 15 great-grandchildren; many beloved great-great-grandchildren; and daughter-in-law, Sandra Kaye Laws.
A funeral service will be held Tuesday, June 16, 2026 at 2:00 PM at J.C. Green & Sons Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at J.C. Green & Sons Funeral Home. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.jcgreenandsons.com.
