Mr. Lonnie E. Sprinkle, 97, of Grand Villa Assisted Living passed away peacefully on Monday, July 21, 2025. He was born on February 25, 1928 in Carrol County, Virginia to the late Lelia and Colie Sprinkle. Lonnie was a faithful member of Oaklawn Church. He served in the United States Navy on a troop transport ship during WWII. After the service he began his career as barber, raised horses and dogs, and was an organizer of the N.C. Palomino Club. He loved to hike, camp, fish, hunt, ride and show horses, and many other outdoor activities. Lonnie also sold cars, and along with his wife, Buna, operated a western store. He volunteered at the Sheppard Center and delivered Meals on Wheels. Lonnie will be remembered as a sweet and kind hearted man who loved the Lord and his family. He helped a lot of people in his lifetime and gave his whole heart to his wife, Buna; his children; and grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Buna D. Sprinkle; sisters, Cecelia Richardson, Callie Burge, and Pauline Dehart; brother, Howard “Holland Gray” Sprinkle; and one great-grandchild.
Surviving are his sons, C.L. Sprinkle (Linda) and David Sprinkle; three grandchildren, April Sprinkle Samuelson, Chad Sprinkle, and Niki Snow; five great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, July 28, 2025 at J.C. Green and Sons Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Jay Boyce and James Saul officiating. Interment will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 1:00 PM at the funeral home, 10301 N. NC Hwy 109, Winston-Salem.
