Lorraine Darr Jordan Obituary

Mrs. Lorraine Darr Jordan, 93, of Thomasville, passed away on Wednesday, July 23, 2025 at the Henry Etta & Bruce Hinkle Hospice House in Lexington.  She was born on June 7, 1932 in Davidson County, NC to Clarence Arthur Darr and Ila Agnes McGee Darr.  She retired after 22 years of service as a rural mail carrier with the U.S. Postal Service.  She was a member of Fairview Church, where she taught Sunday School, worked with VBS, served on every committee at some point in her life, member of the UMW and past president, received Woman of the Year twice, member of the Church Choir, first female chair of the Administrative Council, for 70 years was a Conference Delegate, Youth Delegate, District Delegate, member of the District Board of Ordained Ministers, and directed countless weddings. She volunteered with Davidson County Senior Services, where she delivered Meals on Wheels for 40 years and was coordinator of the Pilot Route #2.  She was a member of the Pilot Lion’s Club, where she was past president and order taker for the Annual BBQ Chicken Meals.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Archie Paul Jordan on April 17, 2005; her brothers, Clarence Ray Darr and Harry Lee Darr; her sister, Susan Blackburn; and her daughter-in-law, Rhonda Lynn Jordan.

Surviving are her two sons, Rev. Tony Jordan and wife Wanda of Holden Beach and Timothy (Tim) Jordan of Thomasville; her brother, Steve Darr and wife Sharron of Thomasville; her sisters, Louise Jones, Faye Everhart, and Kaye Palmer, all of Thomasville; four grandchildren, Wayne Jordan and wife Sarah, Tonya Kyles and husband Mark, Beverly Jordan, and Megan Crady and husband Brandon; seven great-grandchildren, Laine Jordan, Levi Jordan, Luke Jordan, Connor Kyles, Liam Kyles, Shelby Crady, and Sophie Crady; and many nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held on Sunday, August 3, 2025 at 3:00 PM at Fairview Church with Rev. Brian Eddinger and Rev. Steve Livengood officiating.  Interment will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends on Sunday prior to the service in the church fellowship hall from 1:30 PM – 2:45 PM and at other times at the home of her son, Tim. The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the staff of Brookstone Terrace, Hospice of Davidson County, and Amedisys Hospice for all their loving care.
