Obituary

Louis Edward "Eddie" Hernandez, 62, of Kernersville passed away surrounded by his family on Tuesday, September 5, 2023 at Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center. Eddie was born in San Antonio, Texas, on August 31, 1961 to David L. and Reyes P. Hernandez.

Eddie’s athleticism showed through his love of football during his tenure at Texas A&I. This was followed by his successful path at Elon College (Elon University), which led to two back-to-back National Championships in 1980 and 1981.

After the completion of his Bachelor of Arts from Elon College, Eddie taught and coached at Trinity High School. In 1998, he entered into a successful sales career with The Modern Automotive Network. For the past two years, Eddie continued his Sales career at Terry Labonte Chevrolet. Eddies love and passion for the car business was beyond “selling” cars it was about the people and connecting with every single person he came in contact with. It was about taking care of the person. Eddie truly loved the car business.

Eddie was generously and passionately involved with the following organizations: The Hispanic League, The Winston-Salem Foundation, Reynolds America-Hispanic League Middle School, ESL, YMCA Community Outreach, YMCA High School Hispanic Achievers Program, and the Red Cross of North West North Carolina.

Eddie was known as the life of the party. He brought so much joy to everyone he met. You always knew when Eddie was around and he always left you feeling loved. Not only was proud of his personal accomplishments; he was extremely proud of his wife, children, and grandchildren’s accomplishments as well. Eddie will always be known as the greatest Husband, Father, Papa, Gardener, Fisherman, Painter, Car Salesman, Athlete, Friend, Person.

Eddie is survived by his wife Dawn Hernandez. His children, Alietha Davis (Jeff), Elizabeth Sechriest (Justin), Edward Hernandez (Elizabeth), Ryan Hernandez (Jessica), Marnie Buschur (Scott) David Hernandez, and John Hernandez. His grandchildren Sarah ​Davis, Nathan Davis, Haylee Hernandez, Logan Hernandez, Tyler Hernandez, Forrest Buscher, Bronson Buscher, Arieana Hernandez, Kolsyn Hernandez. His Sister Janette Hernandez, MCDP.

He is preceded in death by his parents David L. and Reyes P. Hernandez. His brothers David Hernandez Jr. (baby), John A. Hernandez, Ralph Dominic Hernandez, and David P. Hernandez.

A celebration of life will be held Sunday, September 10, 2023 at 2:00 PM at J.C. Green and Sons Funeral Home Chapel in Thomasville (122 W. Main Street, Thomasville, NC 27360). The family will greet friends at the funeral home on Saturday evening from 6:00-8:00 PM at J.C. Green and Sons Funeral Home in Thomasville.
