Luther Dale Pope

Mr. Luther Dale Pope, 62, of Asheboro, passed away on Saturday, May 6, 2023 at his home.  He was born on April 24, 1961 in Guilford County, NC to Luther Benjamin Pope and Ola Mae Arnold Pope, both of whom preceded him in death.  He worked for 33 years for Energizer Battery in Asheboro.  He was a member of Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church, where he was a past Sunday School teacher, Church Superintendent, Lay Speaker, and sang in the church choir. 

On June 22, 1986, he married Kimberly (Kim) Ann Small, who survives of the home; also surviving is his daughter, Emily Pope Patterson and husband Will of Asheboro; his son, Matthew Pope and wife Whitney of Asheboro; five grandchildren, David Patterson, Katie Patterson, Wesley Patterson, Sawyer Patterson, and Shelby Pope; brother, Tony Pope and wife Sheila of Trinity; and two nieces, Courtney Pope and Haley Pope.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, May 9, 2023 at 5:00 PM at Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church with Reverend Bradley D. Treece officiating.  Interment will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends prior to the service on Tuesday at the church from 3:00 PM – 5:00 PM.  Memorials may be directed to Pleasant Grove UMC, in care of, Lilly Coppley, P.O.
