Luther Ray Watford, 67, of Thomasville, passed away on Monday, March 30, 2026 at Brookstone Retirement Center in Lexington. He was born on August 21, 1958 to Jewel Pierce Watford and John Benjamin Watford. He was a 1976 graduate of East Davidson High School and Randolph Community College.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Allen Watford.
Surviving are a daughter, Bridgett Watford; sister Kay Watford and husband John Collett, three brothers, Sam Watford and wife Karen, Frank Watford, and Ben Watford and wife Mitzi.
As an Environmental Controls Specialist, Luther traveled extensively throughout the Southeast and several foreign countries. As a member of the Thomasville Jaycees and later the Fairgrove Lions Club, his favorite hobby was management of the Thomasville Christmas Parade until his health forced him to retire.
The family will receive friends for visitation on Wednesday April 1, 2026 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the J.C. Green & Sons Funeral Home in Thomasville. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, April 2, 2026 at 11:00 AM at Liberty Baptist Church in Thomasville with Pastor David Bowman officiating.
The family would like to express a sincere thank you to the staff of Brookstone Retirement Center of Lexington and the staff of Hospice of the Davidson County for their loving care of Luther.
