Lynda Diane (Beck) Conrad Obituary

Lynda Beck Conrad recently transitioned peacefully to her Eternal Home. Born and raised in Lexington, NC, Lynda was a bright light everywhere she went. She rarely met a stranger and possessed a special talent for making anyone in her presence feel appreciated, important and included. She lived her life with an abundant generosity of spirit and kindness.

Mrs. Conrad graduated with a degree in Education from Appalachian State University and shared more than three decades of her life with the students at Pilot Elementary School in Thomasville. She also faithfully championed Special Olympics at school events throughout the region.

Lynda was a faithful member of Grace Lutheran Church of Thomasville. A joyful, talented soprano in the choir, Lynda embodied the heart of a volunteer and was also a dedicated Sunday School teacher, summer program coordinator – and, in general, could be counted on to be a member of most committees created at Grace Lutheran! The Thomasville Woman’s Club and greater area benefited from her generous and enthusiastic dedication to community outreach, scholarships and enrichment. She found some of her greatest joy in enriching and bettering the lives of others.

Lynda was a lifelong learner who loved to read. She was fiercely devoted to family, an exemplary mother and wife. Much time was spent spoiling her favorite Jack Russell terriers and spending time with friends. Lynda was quick-witted, warm, and knew how to go with the flow, which made her a master entertainer of her three grandchildren. Over the years she conducted countless docent-worthy adventures to Old Salem, the North Carolina Zoo and other educational attractions, and had many cookie baking adventures in her welcoming kitchen.

Mrs. Conrad is preceded in death by her parents and her brother. She is survived by her husband of 65 years, L.W. Conrad, Jr., two children and three grandchildren. The family would like to express its deepest gratitude to the amazing staff at Brookstone Terrace of Thomasville.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, July 20, 2026 at Grace Lutheran Church 115 Unity Street, Thomasville, NC, with Rev. Gina Schaefer officiating.  The family will greet friends beginning at 10:00 AM in the church fellowship hall.  A private family burial will follow the service at Holly Hill Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers please consider a memorial to Grace Lutheran Church or Victory Junction.
