Mageleen "Maggie" Mae (Pyrtle) Arnold

Mrs. Mageleen “Maggie” Mae Pyrtle Arnold, 90, a resident of Trinity, passed away on Thursday, September 16, 2021 at the Randolph Hospice House in Asheboro. Maggie was an active member of Pleasant Grove UMC. She had a love for baking cakes, cookies, and brownies, and was well-known as a wonderful cook by her family and friends. She was known as “Nana” to her family and grandchildren, and was always a loving wife, mother, and grandmother to them. On April 16, 1949 she married Mr. John Worth Arnold, who preceded her in death on August 4, 2019. In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by her son, Larry Worth Arnold; her sister, Shirley Kealthley; and two brothers, Harry Prytle, and O.C. Prytle.

Surviving are her daughter-in-law, Robin Clinard Arnold of Kernersville; three grandchildren, Larry Anthony Arnold and wife Wendy of Colorado, LaRae Arnold Smith and husband Mason of Kernersville, and Lucas Austin Arnold of Winston-Salem; four great-grandchildren, Kailee, Donovan, Liam, and John; five sisters, Frances Winslow of Asheboro, Ella Ziemba and husband Stanley of Raleigh, Betty Hole and husband Willis of Randleman, Carolyn Pyrtle of Asheboro, and Janice Brown of Atlanta; one brother, Mack Prytle and wife Wanda of Thomasville; and several nieces and nephews.  

A graveside service will be held on Monday, September 20, 2021 at Pleasant Grove UMC cemetery at 3:00 PM with Rev. Brad Treece officiating. Mrs. Arnold will remain at the JC Green & Sons Funeral Home in Thomasville until one hour prior to the service for anyone to come by and pay their respects.
