Margaret (Johnston) Koonts

Margaret Ashmore Koonts ("Bootsie") of 12718 Linwood-Southmont Road, Lexington, NC, died September 14, 2023 at her home.

Mrs. Koonts was born August 9, 1944 in Greenville, SC to the late Margaret Ashmore Johnston and A.E. Johnston, Jr. She is survived by two sons, Stephen A. Pfaff, Jr. ("Steve"), Marion P. Koonts ("Mackey"), one grandson, Andrew R. Pfaff; one sister Gwen Johnston Austin of Greenville SC; a brother A.E. Johnston, III of Liberty SC; one brother Robert Graham Johnston. She was preceded in death by her second husband Reverend Harvey H Koonts, Jr. And a sister, Gina Johnston and a brother John Michael Johnston of Greenville SC.

Mrs. Koonts attended Montreat- Anderson Junior College in Montreat, NC and Columbia College in Columbia, SC. In later years she went back to school and earned a degree in Pharmacy Technology at Davidson County Community College in Lexington, NC.  Mrs. Koonts was a member of The United Daughters of the Confederacy, Nation Society of the American Revolution, Colonial Dames XVII Century, Daughters of the American Colonist, South Carolina Huguenot Society and First Families of South Carolina.

Mrs. Koonts will be cremated and a private inurnment will take place at First Reformed UCC, Lexington, NC, where she was a member.
