Margaret Belle (McCrary) Marr

Margaret Belle McCrary Marr, 97, a lifelong resident of Thomasville, passed away on Sunday, July 11, 2021 at Hinkle Hospice House in Lexington.

Margaret was born October 15, 1923 to the late William Ford McCrary and Martha Kanoy McCrary in Thomasville. She was a faithful member of West End United Methodist Church in Thomasville.

In addition to her parents, Margaret was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, J.B. Marr, Sr.; a daughter, Judy Catherine Blocher; a brother, Clifton McCrary; two sisters, Vida Furr and Nona Hartman.

Surviving are her son, J.B. Marr, Jr and life partner, BJ Attwood of Chapel Hill; a daughter, Janie Byerly and husband Harold of Thomasville; a brother, Raymond McCrary and wife Pat; a sister, Ruby Embler of Lexington; four grandchildren, Marc Byerly and wife Mandy on Winston-Salem, Hope Byerly of Thomasville, David Blocher and wife Audrey of MA, Joseph Blocher and wife Marin of Durham; great-grandchildren, Reece Byerly, Ben Blocher and Sam Blocher; several nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 15, 2021 at 2:00 PM at West End United Methodist Church in Thomasville with Rev. Myra Ward Brown officiating. Burial will follow at Holly Hill Memorial Park in Thomasville. The family will greet friends on Wednesday night from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the J.C. Green and Sons funeral home in Thomasville.
