Margaret "Beth" Elizabeth LaLonde

Mrs. Margaret “Beth” Elizabeth LaLonde, age 61, a resident of Archdale, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 26, 2026 at her home after being diagnosed with ALS in May 2024. She was born on July 21, 1964 in Richmond, Virginia to her parents, the late Margaret Morrison LaLonde and Emil “Ted” LaLonde.

Beth was a proud psychology and sociology teacher at different community colleges throughout the piedmont, connecting with hundreds of students and colleagues over the course of nearly three decades. Her Alma Mater was UNC Greensboro, where her Masters thesis in psychology still lives. She was an avid fan of UNC basketball, Gone with the Wind, Barry Manilow, and Bobby Sherman. She loved visiting the beach and being involved in her daughters’ extracurriculars as children, acting as a volunteer with the Girl Scouts, marching band, and dance. She also adored her sassy cat, CeCe.

Surviving is her devoted and loving husband of twenty-one years, Randy Mayhew; her two daughters, Emilia “Mia” (Colton) of Asheville, Amanda (Ben) of New York; her sister, Jane (Andrew) of Mebane; and her niece, Bailey “Kier” of Mebane.

A celebration of life service will be held on Friday, March 6, 2026 at 1:00 PM at Bethel Global Methodist Church in Thomasville with Rev. Reuben Rinker officiating. The family will speak to friends immediately following the service in the church’s Family Life Center.

Beth loved turtles – if you have anything on hand, the family is suggesting that family and friends wear any accessories (broaches, jewelry) or clothing featuring turtles to Beth’s memorial service, in memory of her.
