Margaret Jane Green Stewart

Margaret Jane Green Stewart passed away on Tuesday, February 10, 2026 at the age of 96 at Piedmont Crossing.  Margaret was the youngest of seven siblings born to the late Carmie Fred and Louzenia Payne Green.  She married Joe Wade Stewart on March 12, 1949.  They lived a wonderful life together for 77 years.  Margaret worked at Sears and retired after 20 plus years of service.  She also volunteered at Forsyth Hospital for many years.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Paul Green (Bessie) and Don Green (Peggie) and her sisters, Ruth Payne (Harold), Mildred Hayworth (Clayton), Lela Hilton (Glenn), and Edith Davis (Garfield).

She is survived by her husband, Joe Wade Stewart of the home; her sons, Donald and wife Debbie of SC and Jimmy of the home.  She is also survived by two granddaughters.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, February 14, 2026 at 11:00 AM at Bethlehem Cemetery,8115 Old Lexington Road, Winston-Salem, NC with Pastor Chris Byrne and Mr. Jim Brooks officiating.  Mrs. Stewart will remain at the J.C. Green & Sons Funeral Home, 10301 N. NC Highway 109, Winston-Salem, NC, where she will lie in state on Friday, February 13, 2026 from 2:00 PM - 6:00 PM for members of the community to pay their respects.  No formal visitation will be held.  Memorials may be made to Bethlehem Cemetery Fund.
