Margie Odessa Scarlett Cox

Mrs. Margie Scarlett Cox, 99, of Thomasville, passed away on Wednesday, October 18, 2023 at her home.  She was born on February 9, 1924 in Davidson County, NC to Levi Scarlett and Bertie Myers Scarlett.  She worked in the furniture industry and lastly at TFI in Thomasville.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Cox; daughter, Mary Herring: granddaughter, Tammy Queen: great-grandsons, Dylan Herring and Tyler Burdie: brothers, Farris, Roscoe, Everett, Edgar, and Archie Scarlett; and sisters, Lillian Burleson, Alma Jean Scarlett, and Catherine Walker.

Surviving are her children, Lisa Westmoreland (Barry Brown) of Thomasville, Annette Westmoreland of Thomasville, Jackie Flowers (Dusty), Paul Westmoreland (Joann Barnnett) of Denton, and James Westmoreland (Lila Westmoreland) of Thomasville; grandchildren, Tabitha Westmoreland (Chris Hege), Brandi Camp (Dustin Camp), Jeremy Westmoreland (Casey Westmoreland), Anthony Westmoreland (Lynnette Westmoreland), Scott Westmoreland (Alison Westmoreland), Melanie Jenkins, Chris Herring (Lisa Herring), Wendy Herring, and Edward Herring; great-grandchildren, Loghan, Kynslee, Lexie, Braxton, Sarahbeth, Destanie (Jordan), Zack, Abigail, Bradley (Lauren), Michelle (Heather), Andrew, Joey, Kyle, Matthew, and Christopher; and great-great grandchildren, Mason, Logan, Lynnley, Alivia, Andrew, Carter, Jaiden, Kylie, Elaina, and Adam.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 24, 2023 at 11:00 AM at the J.C. Green & Sons Funeral Home Chapel in Thomasville with Pastor Dustin Camp officiating with a graveside burial to follow on Tuesday at 2:00 PM at Union Hill Cemetery in Thurmond, NC.  The family will be at the funeral home on Monday, October 23, 2023 from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM.
