Marijean Welborn Obituary

Marijean “MeeMaw” May Welborn, 76, of Lexington passed away at her home on Monday, March, 13, 2023.  Marijean was born on June 7, 1946, a daughter of the late James Howard May and Alice Jean Starr May in Sebastian County, Arkansas. She attended Cathedral of Praise, enjoyed watching Sunday Football and trips to the Outer Banks.  She worked at several companies, PPG, Western Manor Apartments, Portrait Homes and before her retirement, she owned C & M Coin Laundry in High Point.  Marijean loved playing cards with her family and spending time with them.  She will be missed be everyone who knew her. 

In addition to her parents, Marijean was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Odell Welborn, III; a daughter, Kristi Michelle Gregory; a great-grandson, Jayce Cox. 

Surviving are her three sons, Joe Gregory and wife Donna of Archdale, Jim “Tink” Gregory and wife Stephanie of Denton, Tim Gregory of Denton; a daughter, Jennifer Semones and husband Larry of Winston-Salem; two brothers, Michael May and wife Tamara of Decatur, TX, James A. May of Cozumel, Mexico; a sister Cheryl May Everhart and husband David of Thomasville; seven grandchildren, Zach Gregory, Jason Varner, Kristin Argote, Heather Gregory, Jax Gregory, Brittany Hedrick, Jonathan Welborn; numerous great-grandchildren; her loving dog, Meesha.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, March 17, 2023 at 2:00 PM, at the J C Green & Sons Funeral Home Chapel in Thomasville, with Pastor Ray Whittington officiating.  Burial will follow the service at Liberty Baptist Church, Thomasville.  The family will greet friends on Thursday evening, March 16, 2023, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Hospice of Randolph County, 416 Vision Drive, Asheboro, NC, 27203.  Online condolences may be sent to the Welborn family at www.jcgreenandsons.com.
