Mark David Gough Obituary

Mark David Gough, 72, passed away Sunday, June 14th, 2026, in his home. He was born in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, and was the beloved son of the late Cletus Lee Gough and Edna Geroline Cook Gough.

Mark was a stranger to none and a friend to all. He never hesitated to help someone in need; and the many that loved him also returned that same favor. He was surrounded by loving neighbors, that he would affectionately refer to as his “second family.” They never went a day without checking on him and never let a holiday pass without bringing him a hefty plate of home-cooked food.

As for Mark’s hobbies, he was known for his love for collecting; something he and his father shared together since he was a child. It wasn’t about the item for him, it was about the story and the memories attached. Mark left this earth too soon but his love for his family, his friends, his neighborhood family, and, most importantly to him, his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, will remain forever.

Mark is survived by his children, Charity Gough Trivett, Jennifer Gough Oldham, and Derrick Gough (Erin); four grandchildren, Jordan (Jarelis), Kimi, Aiden, and Paul, great grandchild Nadya, and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and his cherished dog, Lucas. He is preceded in death by his parents, Cletus and Geroline Gough.

The family will receive friends and family on Friday evening June 19th from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at J.C. Green and Sons Funeral Home at 10301 Highway 109 in Wallburg. The graveside service will be held Saturday June 20th at 11 AM at Marshall Baptist Church cemetery at 5739 Old Rural Hall Rd in Winston Salem.
