Martha Louise (Reece) Hicks

 Mrs. Martha Louise Reece Hicks, 78, a resident of Winston-Salem passed away on Friday, September 8, 2023.

Martha was born January 16, 1945 in Davidson County, NC a daughter of the late John Quay Reece and the late Mildred Sink Reece and had made this area her home most of her life. She was a secretary and coordinator in the local education system at Ledford High School and Guilford County Schools. As a member of Wallburg Baptist Church, Martha taught children in Sunday school for many years. She was a caregiver for her mother as well as for friends.  She enjoyed crafts and spreading the gospel. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Stanley Reece.  Martha married Stanley “Stan” Michael Hicks who survives of the home.

Also surviving are her son, Shannon Hicks and wife Michelle of Greensboro; her daughter, Marcy Hicks Dennis and husband Chad of Thomasville, grandchildren, Conan Dennis and Lane Hicks; her sister, Jeanette Upton of High Point; aunts, Peggy Adams, Jewel Manning, Josephine Weavil and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be 3:00 PM Tuesday, September 12, 2023 at Wallburg Baptist Church with Pastors Brandon Wolfe, Roy Cantrell, Joey Langley and Bill Hicks officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service from 2:00 PM until 3:00 PM at the church.
