Mary Elizabeth (Kimrey) Holdaway

Mary Elizabeth Kimrey Holdaway, 86, of Thomasville, passed away early Tuesday morning, April 14, 2026, at Hospice Home of the Piedmont in High Point. Mary was born in Richmond County, NC, to the late Preston Kimrey and Evelyn Watts Kimrey.  Mary worked for many loyal years at WJ Rives until her retirement and then worked for a day care part time.  She enjoyed watching Kingdom Ministries Church online every Sunday and was a devoted home-maker.  Mary liked to do word search puzzles and watch crime shows on TV.  She enjoyed her home life and taking care of her family. On August 7, 1988, she married Charles Hubert Holdaway and they enjoyed 26 years as husband and wife before his passing in 2017.    

In addition to her parents, Mary is preceded in death by her son, Jeff Hooker; her sister; and 2 grandchildren, Davie and Nathan; and her two precious fur-babies, Petey and Bentley. 

Surviving are her sons, Kenny Hooker (Tanya), Dale Holdaway (Karen); her daughter, Teresa Smith; five grandchildren, Terri Brown, Ashley Kelley, Chris Hooker, Jessica Malcolm, Troy Whittington; and eight great-grandchildren.    

Friends are welcome to join the family for the entombment to be held at 11:00 AM, on Friday, April 17, 2026 at Holly Hill Mausoleum in Thomasville, with Pastor Randy Parris officiating.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice Home of the Piedmont 1801 Westchester Drive, High Point, NC 27262.  Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.jcgreenandsons.com.
