Mary Ann (Cooke) Stevenson

Mrs. Mary Ann Cooke Stevenson, 79, a resident of Winston-Salem, NC, passed away on Wednesday, April 29, 2026 at her home surrounded by her loving husband and family.

Mary was born May 7, 1946 in Forsyth County, NC a daughter of the late Silas Edward Cooke and the late Nannie Mae Mandering Cooke and had made this area her home most of her life.

During her working life, she worked various jobs as a furniture worker with different furniture companies in the High Point and Thomasville area. Mary enjoyed to go to the mountains browsing through the gift shops, she liked working puzzles, taking care of her flowers in her garden and also found pleasure in going to the bowling center to bowl a game or two. In addition to her parents Mary was preceded in death by her son, David Wayne Hopkins, her daughter, Ronda Jane Hopkins and her five brothers and two sisters. On May 15, 1976 she married Richard Kim Stevenson who survives of the home.

Also surviving is her son, Tony Lee Hopkins and his wife Paige of Van Buren, Ar.; her daughters, Tammy Sue Hopkins and her husband Tommy Guthrie of Pittsboro, NC, April Lynn Hopkins and her husband Carlos of Walnut Cove, NC; her brother, Herbert Cooke of Rural Hall, NC; her sister, Elizabeth Slate of Jamestown, NC and ten grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, May 5, 2026 at the J.C. Green & Sons Chapel, 10301 N. NC Highway 109, Winston-Salem, NC 27107 (Wallburg Community) with Pastor Jeff Broadstreet officiating. Interment will follow at Parklawn Memorial Gardens in Winston-Salem.
