Mrs. Mary Helen Denton Ward, 84, passed away on Wednesday, February 10, 2021 at the Hospice Home at High Point. She was born on December 16, 1936 in Jackson County, NC to Claude Denton and Ruby Bolick Denton. She retired from Britthaven Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, where she worked in the dietary department. She was a devoted member of Carolina Memorial Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Dewey Ward on April 3, 2009; two sons, Stephen Kent Ward and Phillip Arthur Ward; and two sisters.
Surviving are her sons, Mark Ward and wife Kim and Tim Ward and wife Shelia, all of Thomasville; daughter-in-law, Bonita Ward of Thomasville; five grandchildren, Josh Ward and wife Jessica, Kristin Dills and husband Brandon, Landon Ward, Bianca Ward, and Phillip Walters; and six great-grandchildren, Bryson, Faith, Blake, Jaiden, Kelsie, and Adeline.
A private family graveside service will be held at Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery with Rev. Tim Landreth officiating. No formal visitation will be held. Mrs. Ward will lie in state at the J.C. Green & Sons Funeral Home in Thomasville on Sunday, February 14, 2021 from 12:00 PM – 6:00 PM and on Monday, February 15, 2021 from 8:00 AM – 1:00 PM for members of the community to pay their respects.
