Michael Reese Buchanan

Mr. Michael Buchanan, 62, a resident of Thomasville, passed away on Wednesday, December 7, 2022 at his home. He was born on December 5, 1960 in Rowan County to the late Troy L Buchanan and Amy Pennebaker Buchanan.  He worked many years as a machinist at J & J Machine Shop, Younts Machine Shop and Bartimaeus by Design.  Michael enjoyed fishing, camping and traveling to the mountains and the beach.  He liked watching movies and playing on the computer.  He loved to tinker with things and create art for his family.  Michael was a volunteer for many years at the Thomasville Rescue Squad, Station # 51.    Michael loved spending time with his dogs and cats, Roscoe, Sissy, Gidget, Bam-Bam, Pumpkin and Ziggy.  On February 2, 2002, Michael married Cathy Michaelson and they enjoyed almost 21 years of marriage.  He was a very loving husband and brother. 

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a sister, Tammy Buchanan. 

Surviving is his wife, Cathy Michaelson Buchanan of the home; a son, Mark Reese Buchanan of Lexington; a sister, Sharon Burcham and husband Eddie of Thomasville; two nephews, EJ Burcham and wife Crystal, Timothy Burcham and wife Stephanie.
