Michael Patrick Connelly, 70, of Thomasville passed away Sunday September 5th 2021 at home. He was born June 15th 1951 in Corpus Christi Texas. Mike was the son of the late James & Mary (Brewington) Connelly. He grew up in Wilmington NC, graduating from New Hanover High School in 1969. He later moved to Thomasville where his Servpro Franchise came to life. He eventually opened "A Cup Of Nostalgia" coffee & antique shop which he ended up transforming into Thomasville's first downtown bar known as "Connelly's".
After tiring of the bar life he opened "Recollections Antique Village" in WIlmington NC before eventually retiring back to Thomasville. In addition to his parents Mike was preceded in death by his beloved son Danny Connelly.
He is survived by his daughters Donna Connelly and Erin Yarborough and husband Trey; sister, Cathy Connelly; brother, Tim Connelly and wife Sharon; long time girlfriend, Shannon Smith; 5 grandchildren, Sarah Connelly, Michael Connelly, Lily, Nathan, & Daniel Yarborough; and great granddaughter, Kaliee Rodriguez. He also leaves behind his "bonus" family Joey, Kara, Casey, Bethany as well as Corinne Slate & Cole McDonald; 7 little ones who affectionately called him "Mike Mike", Corbin, Cullen, Carter, Caroline, Mason, JJ, & Avery.
Mike thrived in his role as "Papaw". He enjoyed every minute with the kids and grandkids, brightening up their lives with his childlike heart. They cherished their time with him and were his pride and joy. He adored his family, friends, catching all the Notre Dame & Duke games, music and riding motorcycles along with talking about politics & all of his fun life experiences. He will be greatly missed by many.
