Montlieu “Lu” Elberson Jackson, age 88, of Thomasville, died on June 21, 2025. She was born September 9, 1936 in Davidson County to the late Montie and Edith Bodenheimer Elberson. She was preceded in death by her brother, Walter Elberson; her husband, Clifford Jackson; and three children, Randall Alford, Kathy Alford and Jeff Alford.
Survivors include a son, Michael Yates of Thomasville; three granddaughters, Niki Kimrey of Advance, Courtney Sowers of Lexington, and Michaela Yates of Thomasville; six great-grandchildren; an “adopted” daughter, Terry Payne of Thomasville; and a god-son, Tony Ray Carriker of Summerfield.
Lu graduated from A&T College with a B.S. degree in Nursing. She was a retired R.N. and real estate broker.. Lu was employed at City Memorial Hospital and Community General Hospital. Later, she was employed at several nursing homes; Liberty House, Wesleyan Arms, Britthaven and Lexington Health Care. Lu served as Director of Nursing at Wesleyan Arms and Britthaven. She taught N.A.’s for many years at Davidson County Community College and Randolph Community College.
A funeral service will be held on, Wednesday, July 2nd, 2025 at 12:00 PM at J.C. Green & Sons Funeral Home Chapel in Thomasville with Pastor Josh Kepley officiating. The family will receive friends on Tuesday night from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Carolina Biblical Gardens in Jamestown.
