Mr. Murl Lee Moore, age 82, of Union Knoll Drive, Winston-Salem, went home to be with the Lord Friday, September 5, 2025 at Atrium Health Wake Forest Hospital in Winsto-Salem, North Carolina. A native of Pender County, he was the son of the late LeBasker and Gladoylene Williams Moore.
Mr. Moore was a member of Green Street Baptist Church in High Point, North Carolina. He received a diploma in Biblical Arts from The William Carter Bible Collegein Goldsboro and studied one year at Holmes Bible College in Greenville, South Carolina. He loved God, family and friends and enjoyed working in his yard, watching westerns and reading Louis L’Amour novels. He was a “highway cowboy” who traveled our nation’s highways as a long-haul trucker for over 50 years before finally retiring at the age of 78. Our Lord called him to make one more trip. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Henry Jacob Moore and Ralph Moore; two sisters, Betty Malpass and Carol Liardon.
Murl is survived by his loving wife, Sarah Christine Morrison Moore to whom he was married 44 years; his three daughters, Krista Garcia and her husband Jim of Palm Bay, Florida, Julie Jones and her husband Ronny of Walstonburg, North Carolina, and Jennifer Bradshaw of Fuquay-Varina, North Carolina; one son, Jeffrey Murl Moore of Columbia, South Carolina; eight grandchildren, Tony Garcia, Michael Garcia, Adam Garcia, Amber Albertson, Autumn Boisclarir, Jason Moore, Kent Jones, Grace Bradshaw; one sister, Faye Rivenbark.
A graveside service will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, September 19, 2025, at River View Memorial Park, 9332 Hwy 117 North, Willard, NC 28478. The family will greet friends at the cemetery following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Joe Martin ALS Foundation, 100 N. Tryon Street, Charlotte, NC 28202.
