Nancy Budensiek Obituary

Nancy Jean Van Der Kolk Budensiek, 90, a resident of Thomasville, NC, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 2, 2024.

Nancy was born October 2, 1933 in Plymouth, Indiana, to the late Clarence and Marion Jackson Van Der Kolk.  She graduated from Marion College, with a BA in Education. Nancy and her husband, Mark, served 17 years with Evangelical Wesleyan Missions and 15 years with Evangelistic Faith Missions. She was a missionary and a teacher in Africa, Taiwan and Bolivia and influenced countless lives with her love and the message of Jesus Christ. She was a member of the Alleghany Wesleyan Conference and attended Faith Community Chapel in Thomasville in later years.  

In addition to her parents, Nancy is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 52 years, Mark Dale Budensiek, Sr., who passed away January 12, 2011, her brother, Dr. Neil Alan Van Der Kolk and great-grandson, Brogan Rosengreen.

Left to lovingly remember Nancy are her six children and their spouses:  Philip and Joy Budensiek, Peter and Kathy Budensiek, Paul and Marilyn Budensiek, Sr., Deborah Jean Budensiek, Julia and Wendell Wagstaff, Mark and Marissa Budensiek, Jr. Eleven grandchildren:  Michael and Audra Budensiek, Veronica and Jonathan Atkinson, Thomas and Whitney Budensiek, Brenna Budensiek, Tiffany and Shirl Rosengreen, Crystal and Gabriel Survance, Paul Budensiek, Jr., Kolyse and Kyle Caver, Kaylee and Jordan Miller, Justin and Katie Wagstaff, and Malina Budensiek. Nine great-grandchildren: Lewis, Skyler, Elliott, Chase, Colton, Cooper, Darcee, Gavin, Vayda, and baby boy Survance on the way, sister-in-law, Bonnie Van Der Kolk, along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins.  Nancy will be greatly missed by everyone who knew her.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, February 10, 2024, at Faith Community Chapel, 345 Faith Chapel Road, Thomasville, NC with Rev. Jonathan Heath officiating. The family will receive friends beginning at 10AM before the 11AM service at the church. Nancy will be laid to rest beside her dear husband in Faith Chapel Cemetery.  Memorials may be given to Evangelistic Faith Missions 1502 I Street, Suite 100, Bedford, IN 47421.  Online condolences may be left at
