Otis Lee McCoin, Jr.

Mr. Otis Lee McCoin, Jr., 78, of Thomasville, passed away early Wednesday morning, August 13, 2025, at his home.  He was born on September 24, 1946, in Forsyth County, NC, to the late Otis Lee McCoin, Sr. and Nannie Lucy Pardue McCoin.  Otis had lived in Thomasville since 1981 and attended Midway School Road Baptist Church and loved his church family.  He proudly served his country in the Vietnam War, as a member of the US Marine Corps, where he received a Purple Heart and the Medal of Bravery.  Otis was injured in the line of duty and was honorably discharged in 1968.  He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans, Thomasville Chapter # 29 and also a member of the Pilot Lion’s Club.  On July 5, 1980, Otis married Miss Margaret Elizabeth Johnson and they enjoyed 45 years together as husband and wife, before he went home to be with the Lord. 

In addition to his parents, Otis is preceded in death by his brother, Roger D. McCoin and his two sisters, Claudia Goff and Diana Gregory. 

Surviving is his loving wife, Margeret Johnson McCoin of the home; two daughters, Angela Boles and Cindy Spencer and husband Gary Spencer; a son, Tracy Boles; three grandsons, Robbie Hagy and wife Christina, Jimmy Hagy, Tyler Boles; four great-grandchildren, Chris, Kinsleigh, Anson and Addilyn (aka Boy and Girl), whom Otis absolutely adored; two nieces, Sabrina and April.  Otis will be dearly missed by everyone who knew him.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, August 18, 2025 at Midway School Road Baptist Church in Thomasville, with Pastor Robert Walker officiating.  Interment will follow in Floral Garden Memorial Park Cemetery, with full military honors provided by the Davidson County Honor Guard.  The family will greet friends on Sunday evening, August 17, 2025, from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM at J.C.
