Patricia "Pat" May (Porter) Hughes

Patricia “Pat” May Porter Hughes, 67 of Thomasville went home to be with Jesus while at Hinkle Hospice Home in Lexington on Saturday, June 5, 2021 with her loving family by her side. Pat was born September 4, 1953 in Wilkes County to the late Hubert Porter, Sr. and Nellie Woodruff Porter. She was a member of Full Gospel Freewill Holiness Church. Pat worked many years in the furniture industry. She enjoyed painting and doing crafts, along with working in her flower gardens at home. Pat was an amazing cook and received great joy and pride cooking meals for her beloved family. Her greatest joy in life was taking care of her family and showing love to them and everyone she met. She had a strong love for Jesus and wanted all to trust in Him. Along with her parents she was preceded in death by two sisters, Nina Louise and Bonnie Jane; one grandson, Austin Joseph Severt; one niece, Wendy Staley.

Surviving is her husband of 22 years, Richard L. Hughes of the home; one son, Donnie Severt (Paula Bowman); two brothers, Hubert Porter, Jr., Terry Wayne Porter; three sisters, Peggy Sue Jarrett (Rickie), Darlene Porter, Geraldine Petty (Dean); eight grandchildren; one great-grandchild. She also leaves behind many beloved nieces and nephews.  

A graveside service will be held Thursday, June 10, 2021 at 11:00 AM at Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery in Thomasville with Rev. William Hutchins officiating. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6:00-8:00 PM at J.C. Green and Sons Funeral Home in Thomasville. In lieu of flowers the family request that memorials be sent to St. Jude’s Children’s Research, 501 St. Jude Place • Memphis, TN 38105.
